Dumpster Rental Rules & Debris Guide
A clear plan helps prevent delays, added charges, and unsafe loads. Review these guidelines and tell Merit exactly what you expect to dispose of before delivery.
Usually accepted: household cleanout debris, furniture and general junk, wood and drywall, common remodeling debris, roofing with prior weight planning, some yard material.
Ask first: concrete, dirt, rock, brick or sod, shingles and dense debris, appliances and mattresses, tires, stumps and logs, anything heavy or wet.
Never accepted: hazardous chemicals, paints and solvents, batteries, medical waste, asbestos or suspected asbestos.
Four rules keep a load transportable: debris below the top rail, within the 2-ton plan, delivery access clear, and contact us before pickup if you need more time.

A Safe, Transportable Load
Keep Debris Below the Top Rail
Nothing should extend above the container walls. An unsafe or overloaded container may not be transported until the load is corrected.
Stay Within the Weight Plan
Standard rentals include 2 tons. Extra weight is charged according to the terms shown during booking. Dense loads may require special limits or approval.
Keep Delivery Access Open
Remove parked cars and obstacles, unlock gates, and disclose narrow turns, steep grades, soft surfaces, low branches, and overhead wires before delivery.
Protect the Rental Window
Contact Merit before the scheduled pickup if you need more time. Extra days are subject to availability and may include an added charge under the booking terms.
Placement, Access & Driveways
Choose a firm, level surface with a clear truck approach. The customer should confirm property permission, permits, and HOA requirements. Surface protection needs depend on the property and conditions; discuss placement before delivery and ask whether boards or another precaution are appropriate.
Keep vehicles, materials, low branches, wires, gates, and other obstacles out of the delivery path. If the driver determines that placement is unsafe or inaccessible, service may need to be rescheduled.
Extra Days & Mileage
Need extra rental time? Contact Merit before pickup. Extensions depend on availability and may carry an extra daily charge under the current booking terms.
Merit serves Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, and communities across El Paso and Teller counties. Service beyond the standard area may be available for an added mileage fee, and deliveries more than 50 miles from our home base may incur a mileage fee.
Weight adds up fast. Concrete, dirt, rock, brick, shingles, plaster, and wet material can become very heavy in a small volume. Contact Merit before loading dense debris so the material, container, and safe loading limit can be confirmed.
Charges, Weight & Access
What is included in the rental price?
The 15-yard starts at $350 for 3 days or $395 for 5 days. The 20-yard starts at $380 for 3 days or $425 for 5 days. Both include 2 tons. Confirm your selected option and all current terms in the online booking portal.
What happens if the dumpster is too heavy?
Weight beyond the included 2 tons is subject to the overage terms shown during booking. Dense materials may require advance approval or a different loading limit.
What could cause a failed delivery or pickup?
Blocked access, locked gates, unsafe ground, overhead obstructions, parked vehicles, an overloaded container, prohibited materials, or other unsafe conditions can prevent service. A return trip or rescheduling charge may apply under the booking terms.
Is there a mileage fee?
Service outside the standard service area may be available for an additional mileage fee. Deliveries more than 50 miles from our home base may incur a mileage fee. Confirm the address before booking.
Not sure your material is allowed?
Tell us what you're loading. We'd much rather sort that out now than leave a container that can't be hauled.
